5 Plugins Under $70 That You Should Buy Right Now
There are a lot of amazing plugins out there, but if you’re like me you don’t have lots of cash to plunk down on something you end up not liking. Here are 5 plugins that offer absolutely amazing value, and are worthy of use every day.
1. Valhalla Vintage Verb ($50)
This is hands down my favorite reverb plugin of all time. I use it on everything from vocals to plucky synths, and it never fails to impress me. It has three modes: 1970’s, 1980’s, and now which provide a wide variety of different reverb types to your mix without overwhelming you with too many choices. If you’re looking to instantly reinvigorate your old soft synths, this will be well worth the price.
2. Waves’ Electric 88 ($59)
This is the best Rhodes sample I’ve ever heard, and sits perfectly in mixes. Waves made a great choice to include all the imperfections of the original, and as a result this plugin has so much character that it inspires creativity. The only drawback? It’s huge. At about 2 gigabytes, so you probably won’t want to use this live.
3. PianoTeq’s Model B Grand Piano ($129)
This one is way over the price point I set, but I think it’s worth mentioning. PianoTeq’s physical modeling piano is easily the best piano I’ve ever played live. It sounds amazing, and since it’s physically modeled (aka no samples), you can use up to 128 notes at the same time with almost zero CPU usage.
4. TAL- UN-O- LX Juno Synth Plugin ($60)
This is the best emulation of a Juno-60 synth that I’ve ever heard, and it’s also one of the cheapest. I downloaded it a few week’s ago and it quickly became my go-to synth for all things classic pop.
5. Steven Slate’s Everything Bundle ($24.99 per month)
Steven Slate Audio offers all of his amazing fx plugins for an incredibly low price of $24.99 per month, which includes an amazing assortment of compressors, limiters, mastering plugins, amp modelers, tape simulators, expanders, and dozens of others. This is essentially everything you’d ever need to mix your tracks. Cool thing about it? You can pause the subscription anytime for free, so you aren’t paying for plugins you aren’t using.
