Mainstage Mondays: Organizing And Setting Up Patches and Sets

Mainstage offers a lot of different ways to organize your patches, and there are some valuable advantages to each method. Here are some of my favorite tips:

The Individual Patch Option

If you’re going with a single-patch-per-song setup, this is the easiest way to organize your set.

When you’re done with these patches after the show, you can simply drag the patches to a folder on your computer, and they’ll be organized numerically. Before I do this, I often try and organize them into alphabetical order so it’s easier to see in the future.

The Set Option

If you play all the same patches in the same order every time (for instance, if you’re playing a musical or score with a specific progression of patches) this option is for you. I often use this option, since I sometimes will switch between several patches in the same song. Just put all your patches in the correct order, select them all, and then go to the option “New Set From Selection”.

When you’re done with the set, simply drag the sets into the correct folder for safekeeping on your desktop. Everything will stay in order, ready for next time you take the stage.
